The Bear!

This is one of the bears from our hiking trip last Friday. Turbo was SO funny -- he was digging in wet sand and then out of nowhere ploughed into the water. I tried to get it on video but somehow missed it. You can hear his mama laughing in the background, I think we were all laughing - he was such a riot! Now if he could only teach Gator how to love the water...

My parents are on what is known in their area as the "bear route." Their neighbors have seen mama bears and their cubs pass through several times, but they haven't seen the bears themselves.

Actually, my dad did, at the next door neighbor's house. He was helping out with some yardwork when our neighbor kept yelling at him to run. All of a sudden, dad turns around, and there's this bear 10 feet away from him. Dad said he never ran so fast in his life.

That Turbo really is a handsome dog, isn't he? Not that I'm biased.
