The Infamous Belly Shot - Week 11

Week 11

I actually do have photos each week since we found out at 3w3d, but they're not all exciting. At some point I may do a progression and post a few that actually show some changes in one image, but I make no promises. I wouldn't consider myself 'small' by any means, but I have always had a tiny waist and because of that, we've noticed weekly changes in my belly - it's been a lot of fun to watch how much I change, despite knowing that this is probably 'hello' to my new figure - til death do I part. I cannot believe July is almost over! August is going to be very, very busy!

How we told the grandparents...

I've had a few people ask how we told our parents about the baby...

Since we are due right before Valentine's day, I went to Hallmark and asked if they had Valentine's day cards in the back that I could look through. The woman said they were all packed up and apologized... with that, I told her why I wanted them and she was happy to pull a few for me to look at. :) I picked two that both said, "Happy Valentine's Day to you..." and on the inside "... from me!" I put an ultrasound picture at the bottom where we would have signed our names and then the due date arched above the top of the inside.

I also got one of those picture frames that has the thick white matting and black frame and put a picture we had taken at the zoo... around the picture, in the white mat I wrote, "Cost of printing photo: $1, Cost of frame: $5, Finding out there are actually three people in the picture: Priceless!"

We drove to NC on a Saturday and right before everyone was ready to eat lunch, we told them we had something for them... they opened the card first, and then the frame that we'd wrapped up. We originally told them it was a little 'thank you' for helping to clean out my condo, but they quickly realized there was more to it!

My original plan for telling them was to get a 'Big Sister' shirt for Nola, but I knew that they would then think we were getting a puppy so this seemed like the better plan - and I love how we did it! It was perfect and totally caught them off guard!

Fun in VA

We had some visitors this weekend and ended up at the aquarium - it was really nice and BIG! There are two buildings; one had salt water animals and the other had brackish water animals (otters!). We didn't get many pictures because we were so busy but the sea turtles were HUGE and really neat to watch. There was an area below the top where the lights were dim except for in the tank and you could hear the sounds from inside the tank - it was SO calming. I could have stayed there all afternoon just relaxing in that room.
The nature trails were neat, but it was SO hot! We decided not to do the entire trail and instead walked around and took a few pictures before heading back inside.
Luka Bleu thoroughly enjoyed the visit with his Poppa!
Busch Gardens! One of the very few pictures from the day... the boys rode Pompei several times. Poor Chandler was roped into riding Lochness Monster SEVEN times. By 3:30 his head was spinning and they had to call it a day. Mom and I left a little earlier but sat in traffic for 3 hours! So much for a short 40 minute trip home!

Remember when I changed the name of my blog?

...from Good Morning World to Big Adventure Calling?

Well... a Big Adventure it will be!

I've not posted much because I have been SICK and really couldn't think of much to post about other than pregnancy, so I decided to just lay low for a while. Now that the secret is out, I'm excited to talk all about it! Today we saw a very active ten week fetus with a strong heartbeat - could not have been a better day! I've been out of regular pants for a couple weeks now and am hoping the sick part will be over soon. That said, I've enjoyed being reminded of what a miracle this is and have taken each bout of ick with gratitude.

More soon!
