Weekend progress...

...on bags! Goal is to get 16 done by the end of Thursday... made a few tonight. The first two were "orders" and the one of the far right may be sold tomorrow, but not sure yet. I'm debating keeping the third one. It's SUPER cute. I have an orange fabric that will also match the flowers and I think when I order again, I'm going to get this print in different colors because it's great for this size I think.
We had the GOAC picnic today -- it was lots of fun. Pictures will be next!

Love Made Visible
Suffering, along with failure, is universal,
an inescapable fact of human life.
But compassion, silence and hope
gives us a way through the suffering.
The healing of the world
begins within us…
and yet can never end with us.

The best way to love God
is to relieve the pain and suffering of others.
When we relieve the pain and suffering of others,
we make God’s love visible.
Compassion without works of mercy
was inconceivable to Jesus.

Picture Post

Last week at work we had a baby shower... (why do my eyes look Asian when I smile?)

I made the banner...
...and Lisa made this awesome watermelon (copy it, it's adorable!).
Sleepover time! I can't believe we ALL fit in the bed! We had SUCH a good time!!!
Everyone got a bath! Roxy wasn't thrilled...
Britt's dog attack...

This is the messy closet before the cleaning...

(Blogger hates me tonight and just deleted the full shot picture and because I'm cranky over the computer already I'm not going to reload it. Just know that the top looked just like the bottom!)
...AND... here's the after closet! SO much better!
(and you can see the floor!!!)

To D

Dear love, you asked what I would like for my birthday. I've made my decision. Please find the options below, however be advised that Nola will need final approval.

(ANY of these ones!)

This is Nala... she's actually in NC and would like a home... look at that sweet face! "Hi Dave, pick me!"
Honey is in NC too... and needs a home...
Or we could always look for a boy dog to help you chase the wild pigs. I know you were excited to go and hunt them down at the pond. Either way, this is what I've decided I need for my birthday. It's in two days, by the way. I'll see if I can find a boy dog for your consideration. Nola would be okay with a brother too.

Hmm...

I've had some thoughts on things to write about... but I'm unmotivated. That's not really a word, but I like it. It makes sense.

A few random things...

-Compassion recently added its 1,000,000th sponsored child! Wow. I'm honored to be part of such an organization. I've been sponsoring children through Compassion since 1994. Watch this video, One Child.

-The Future Hope Project is really catching on! We've gotten quite a few packages from wonderfully kind people from all over the US! When we told David, HAI's country director, he asked if we could also include mosquito nets, so we're going to start a separate campaign for that. The ever amazing Abbie has designed some killer tshirts that I simply cannot wait to add to the blog side bar! I LOVE the shirts and can't wait to sport one! You need one too!

-Lots of people at work are having babies. Or just had babies. There's a lot of baby talk. That's fine. I like babies. Almost everyone who knows me, knows I want to adopt. Recently, my boss asked me why I wanted to do that. This really deserves its own blog post, but I'm not ready to write it. I am ready, but I don't feel like it's my place, more honestly. I feel like a lot of people who ARE adopting would judge the fact that I'm writing it when I'm not "in process" of adopting. Anyway... the short answer to my boss' question though, is why not adopt. It's a no brainer for me. And to be completely honest, I often wonder why more people don't adopt. But again, another post.

-My sister came over on Saturday to help me go through my closet, to say it was a disaster is an understatement. I could have NEVER gotten it done without her. Seriously. (Thanks girl!!!) We had SO much fun! She even surprised me with a really cool birthday scrapbook (I LOVE my birthday!) and cake at mom's later that afternoon. The closet was tabled time and time again during the course of the day... how did I NOT mention yet that she was attacked by a dog?! She was going to evaluate a great dane for his chances of getting into rescue and he bit her hand pretty bad. She went to the Dr and is on antibiotics, pain meds, etc... Oh... been there, done that. I felt really bad for her. That was a traumatic thing for us... Anyway, so she ended up spending the night and we had a BLAST! We all camped in the front bedroom b/c the bed is really big and we ALL fit... us + Titan, Roxy and Nola!

-D is coming back to town for July 4th. I wish he could just stay :( Maybe next time!!! I'll take what I can get until then. Any guesses on when he'll get a job down here? We could make a betting pool, that could get interesting...

-I think that's it for random bits of information. Maybe later I'll get around to posting some pictures of the summer so far....

More fun stuff...

...is going on! But of course, I can't chat about it yet!

Next month, promise! There are LOTS of things though! Craftiness is next to godliness, right? No? Well, it should be!

Have I ever mentioned my awesome girlfriends and how nifty they are??? We should talk about that sometime.

But since this is my blog, I'll be selfish and just remind you that my birthday is next week.

And I like presents!

Specifically... you can send checks in $8 increments to Hope Aid for mosquito nets please!!!

Hope Aid International
P.O. Box 20281
Greenville, NC 27858

Our Paypal button is not working so we can't take credit/debit right now, maybe by July we'll have that problem solved. I just have to call them back and fax our paperwork for NGO status and I can't do it from work. So.... til I get that done, it's old fashioned for us!!

So... NETS for the mamas!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME!!!

Umm... ok I feel bad for not mentioning even a teeny thing. Hint: T-shirts!

I love these...

I swear this was made for Hope Aid! Check it out! Or buy it for me, my birthday is next week! :P

This one is awesome too! Handprints on the entire continent! Love it! Want one? Actually, maybe I love this one more. It's a little more silver than the first. They're both gorgeous.

Several months ago, I won some earrings from Tracy, the designer. They are really nice... she has tons of other cool pendants. Check her out, she also does a lot of fundraisers.

Actually, Hmm... would anyone wear a mosquito pendant? We need to start thinking of ways to raise money for mosquito nets. More on this when I have more info. More cool stuff coming up! AND... we have over 12 packages for the Future Hope Project -- YAY!!!

Catching up...photoblog style (Part III)

We have had GREAT weather over the last couple of weekends and even though there's not enough time to get away and go somewhere fun, we've still been outside as much as possible.

I recently had 8 bag orders! Here they are, finally done. I can't decide which one I like best.
My boys have the 'rrhea. I'm going to try Immodium tomorrow and give it a day or so, if that doesn't help, it's to the vet they go. Poor babies... Finley was feeling really crummy earlier but then he found a fly in the house and was running all over the place. It's hard to tell if they feel bad or just have some minor discomfort. Oh if they could only talk...

I think I'm finally done with small updates and am back on track. In other news, I now have TWO inhalers and have been on prednisone for the past few days. That has been the only thing that has seemed to work. Let's hope everything maintains when I'm done with that small course and the two inhalers will keep me breathing regular. We'll see.....

Catching up...photoblog style (Part II)

Memorial Day cookout... and cheesy pictures!

Nola's new collar from Oliver's Collars! We love Oliver... and his collars... and his mom... because they're just THAT awesome!!! Nola thinks she's pretty stylish in the zebra print. I doubt you can see from the picture, but it's got pink thread and is SO cute!

Catching up... photolog style (Part I)

My sister brought her latest foster, Rory, 5 months, to visit. He's going to be HUGE! They had a great time playing, although he's pretty clumsy and is into everything! I don't know how she does it!
His feet are HUGE!

One of my best friends, Essi, came to visit!!! She moved to DC area a couple of years ago and I haven't seen her since our Shenandoah cabin trip last year.
Midesha, Essi, me, and Sarah...

Scoville, Sarah, Midesha... we're about to chow down on some strawberry shortcake, Mmm!

Jun 1, 2009

Is it really June already?

I've been completely MIA and have a TON to blog about... I don't even know where to start... so I'll say this: Lots of cool stuff happened, then I got sick, more cool stuff happened; I continued coughing, thought I was better, but still coughing; went to the doctor this morning, and this is me now:
(except a few shades lighter ;)) -- how do I feel about this? Bleh! So... to recap, lots of cool stuff to post, but cool stuff still going on so... maybe later this week I'll get around to writing about it all!
